On the PC side, you may need to disable its firewall or anti-virus software or conjure a Wizard to get it to recognize the Ethernet connection, but the following KB article explains it pretty much in depth: About Windows Migration Assistant

Download Windows Migration Assistant here: Windows Migration Assistant v1.0.1. You do not need to use Windows Migration Assistant to actually transfer the files, but it makes it easy and will ensure the Ethernet connection is intact.
