Can I uncheck voice memos from my Ipod without syncing my entire iTunes library?

I have an 2nd Generation iPod touch. I'm getting error 13019 when trying to sync all of the sudden and people tell me the way to fix it is to uncheck voice memos from the ipod's sync settings. Unfortunately when I go to my sync settings they're all greyed out, I can't change any of them unless I check on 'Sync Music', which wants to sync my entire itunes library of 10,000 songs. Is there another way around this? Thank you

P.S. My iPod hasn't been updated to 4.2 yet (that's the latest software available for my iPod), I'm still using 3.1.3
