Nov 8, 2012 3:45 AM in response to tonyrxmanby Radiation Mac,You should also use matched pairs of identical RAM in adjacent slots. (Don't mix a 2 GB module with a 4 GB module in adjacent slots.)

Nov 8, 2012 4:30 AM in response to tonyrxmanby seventy one,I use a 4GB memory with 2 GB memory in adjacent slots with no problem. If one only has 2 slots there's not much else you can do with 6GB in total. Looking at the OP's profile he probably has 4 slots.
Certainly he/she should try to balance memory as far as possible.

Some Macs are particular about matched pairs but yours is pretty simple.
