Visual Studio 2012 available for mac?

Hey there,

i am thinking about buying a macbook pro with retina display but i dont know if it is better to buy one with 500GB flash storage or with 256GB flash storage.

For me a important thing is, that i can also use Visual Studio 2012. So if i take the 256GB option i would be afraid to have to less storage because if there doesn´t exist a Visual Studio 2012 for mac, i have to install windows via boot camp which needs 20GB.

So my question is now, does Visual Studio 2012 exist for mac and is 256GB enough? The difference between the price is really big (256GB - 500GB flash storage)

regards

Michael

AFAIK, Visual Studio isn't and never has been available to run on OS X, so you'd have to either run it under Boot Camp or a VM app, such as Parallels Desktop (I'm a Parallels user, so that's what I usually reommend).

Is 256GB enough? Just barely. I've a lean, mean 512GB SSD and I use just a portion of that with a full 377GB free (after I finally consolidated my entire iTunes library onto an external drive). And I run XP under Parallels. SO you could get by with 256GB. And, if you wish to upgrade later, OWC has a 480GB storage card that you can install - for $580 (compare that to the cost of the Apple 512GB upgrade - I think that you come out cheaper with Apple).

Yes, you could get by with 256GB - keeping in mind that you can always upgrade to a larger capacity card later on.

Hello guys , i have a MacBook Pro 13'' and i have to develop an ASP.net website. For this reason i need Visual Studio. Running it through parallel is scaring me because i am not sure that my mac is supporting it. I mean in terms of performance. So i want to ask you two questions :

1. Which would be a good setting for VMware to get average performance and work smoothly?

2. Are there alternatives to Visual Studio on Mac , avoiding me to use VMware?

Thanks all for help.
