will unlocked iphone 5 work in india.?

my aunt lives in canada, so i asked her to get me an iphone 5 which is unlocked... will it work in india.?

If officially unlocked, yes. However it will not work for LTE. A Canadian iPhone 5 only supports LTE in North America. Also, you will have no warranty/support, in India, for a Canadian iPhone. Any issues, you'll have tro mail it back to your Aunt.

Thanks..! And where can i buy an unlocked iphone5.? i found through net that, apple retail store in canada does not sell unlocked iphones..! where can i find an unlocked iphone 5....? do apple retail store sell unlocked iphone 5's ?

Apple retail stores in Canada do sell officially unlocked iPhones. However, they may not have the iPhone 5, officially unlocked, in stock. But they do sell them. Be very careful, Apple retail stores sell both at full price, officially unlocked & carrier locked without contract. If your receipt has any carrier name listed or the phone comes with a sim card, it is not officially unlocked.

will the apple store people unlock the mobile officially or will they ask us to unlock it somewhere else using some1 ..! A carrier locked iphone 5 16gb costs about $199, if we are unlocking it officially-how much do they charge for unlocking it?

Apple does not unlock carrier locked iPhones. Only the carrier an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking, and they will not do so unless you are a current or former customer, using that phone on their network & having fulfilled ALL of the contract terms. Don't waste your money going this route, as it is nothing but a big bag of hurt.
