Unable to update iOS 6.0.1

Are you trying to update via wifi or via usb connection on a computer? If you are using wifi, then try again through itunes on computer. Make sure that itunes is up to date first.

It happens to me 2 days ago with my Ipad 2 16GB, 3G. After SYNC with Itunes and USB cable the update failed. I had to restore from zero, and then recover my icloud copy (the local copy did not restore all my apps). It took me more than 1 hour, because every App had to be downloaded again.

It is possible I was too short in free space for this update, but in any case no advice about it appears before the upgrade.

It is the first time an ipad update crush me. Be carefull and make an icloud copy before update.

This is a good reason why regular backups are so important. Set up icloud to backup alll your devices automatically each day. Periodically perform backups through itunes as well so you have 2 options for restoring from a backup. Never put 'all your eggs in one basket'.

If you are trying to update using iTunes, temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software and see if that helps.

Yes. On windows 8 via itunes to iphone with ios 6.0 installed via itunes but on windows 7. error message -3253

This keeps happening to me, too. I haven't updated to iOS 6.0.1 because it keeps saying Update Failed. I'm also guessing this is connected to my battery and charging problems. Help.
