I should clarify that I don't have an iPad or iPad mini. The only reason I know this is because I am doing research on whether I should get a laptop or an iPad for what I need it for. Anyway, what I found is that iPad's don't support Adobe Flash, which is what is used for streaming video for live cams (and many are live Flash cams). I've read that you can watch just about anything offered in Flash with a browser called Puffin. If you do a search for it, you'll see that is is offered by the AppStore, quite cheap, and if it works as described then it's a no-brainer (I've included the link to the actual browser app but you can search for it to find articles about how it works and whether it does what it claims to do)
I wish I could tell you for sure that it's the solution but I can't since I'm only at the research state. However, I hope I saved you some time. Here's the link:
I am rreally grateful for your helpful reply.
Since my post I have been able to find a little more about this issue.
Along with Puffin I have used Skyfire too. Both have their merits and I switch between them for the best reuslts on any given day.
Thanks again

Hey, thank YOU. When I'm able to help somebody even if a tiny little bit, I feel good and it makes me feel SMART (or S M R T, like Homer Simpson would say.
You might have already checked this out, but here's another way of doing the same thing, but approaching it from a different angle. Supposedly by using this remote access app, you should be able to use on your iPad any apps you would use on your desktop. The reviews are pretty good so it's worth checking out.
yes use a browser called "Puffin"
many thanks for your interest
