OS X Mountain Lion not compatible with Mac Mini 2012?

Hey guys,

I have a brand new Mac Mini 2012 that I upgraded with an SSD in addition to the existing HDD. So I want to reinstall Mountain Lion (already have a license) on the SSD. When I try to download it from the App Store I get the error message "OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer". When I build a bootable USB stick with an image downloaded with my MacBook, the Mini refuses to boot from the stick.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Cheers,

Ralf

You have to download Mountain Lion on Internet Recovery because your Late 2012 Mac mini uses a special Mountain Lion build. Press Command and R keys and install OS X Mountain Lion in your SSD disk
