iBooks new none

I got really excited when I found out about the new <meta property="rendition:spread">none</meta> (it hides the book border in FXL epub), but I quickly encountered some strange behaviours:

  • No control over page scaling: you can't disable it, you can't limit it. And it goes way beyond the amount of magnification possible on normal FXL. The scaling behaviour is similar to that of PDF view. (screenshot). I tried adding restricitons to the viewport meta tag, but iBooks doesn't seem to take these into consideration.
  • Zoomed text gets pixelated (live text, not bitmap) (screenshot)

Has anybody found ways around this?

Thanks

Hi Adriano, follow up message:

Still no resolution for this bug, but there is a new "format" allowed in the latest version of iBooks. For FXL books, it's possible to remove the book binding but keep the page turning effect:

<meta property="ibooks:binding">false</meta>

This format doesn't have the magnification bug.

Hope this helps.
