AirPlay Mirroring with MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.2 stopped working

Hi!

I don't use AirPlay mirroring with my MacBook that often so I don't know when it stopped working. But I know it did work some time ago (probably on OSX 10.8)

The AirPlay Mirroring Symbol in the Statusbar doesn't show up anymore and in the Systemsettings - Display it says "No AirPort Device found" with the ATV turned ON.

I checked the Firewall settings on my Mac (explained in the Apple Troubleshooting Guide) and AirPlay is enabled on my ATV running 5.0.1 (iOS 5.1.1). Both are on the same Network and mirroring works with my iPad and iPhone (both 5.1.1).

The curious thing is's possible to stream music and videos from iTunes to my AppleTV and I also see "My Computer" and can browse, listen the iTunes Mediathek (from my MacBook) on the Apple TV.

The only thing that refuses to work is mirroring my Mac on the TV over the ATV.

I'm using a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro on OSX 10.8.2 and an Apple TV 2nd gen. running 5.0.1 (iOS 5.1.1)

Does anyone have an idea? Is something wrong with the 10.8.2 update?

Thanks in advance!

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hi!

I figured it out! It was a firewall issue.

I use Handsoff and I checked it before i wrote here. There was no "user defined rule" that denied the communication but when i changed to "All rules" the program displayed several rules regarding AppleTV and its IP.

So if anybody has the same problem make sure you see all rules of your firewall and get rid of the AppleTV related rules generated by the program itself. You dont need to update to the latest iOS on the AppleTV!

I hope that I can help some people with this info to fix the problem.
