Mac Mini (2012) HDMI losing sync (blank screen/snow)

Oh I agree Ciccilleju, using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter is a bodge and will lose dual monitor... but at least it gets you one non-blanking display :).

That's good to hear Robert Hoffman, was it any particular brand? And does it do audio?

@cactuspilot, a quick search on google found me a Neet one, a Startech one, a iWires one, and a Kanex one (iAdapt V2).

Brand is inland.....check www.microcenter.com. I paid $9.9 plus tax. So far it has been working & no issues(keeping my fingers X'd).

Robert Hoffman - just to be sure, what kind of display do you have connected via HDMI? 1080 or less might be ok either way.

I have a 22 in Viewsonic 1080HD monitor.

I have the same problems -- NEC PA241w monitor that's been flawless on 2 macs and a pc. Getting both snow and blackouts. 2.6 i7 chip. Tried both an HDMI cable, and apple's hdmi adaptor.

Other than writing this on here and phoning apple only to be told they've not heard of this, has anyone got an idea of how we can get this noted. Seems like too many people have got this problem an it needs fixing

I submitted feedback on fuzzy text already, but not the HDMI/sync issue (I am lucky and not seen that one yet).

they will change the hdmi port of mine on monday, i hope it will fix it.

what reason did they give regarding the replacement? Are they admitting there is a defect with HDMI? wondering if they will be contacting everyone that recently bought the new Mac mini.

the italian (i'm italian) apple customer care told me "yes, it looks like an hardware issue, you can take your mac mini to the nearest apple shop and they will fix this" - when i went to the store they told me that ONLY DURING THIS WEEK they replace already A LOT of hdmi ports

Interesting that no-one has had any problems when using the MDP/Thunderbolt port with a HDMI adapter. I can't thing what would be different to the native HDMI port really… which makes me think maybe it's hardware not software/firmware at fault?

I just bought the new mac mini but has a problem that the screen sometimes loses sync.

I've tried a lot of things but nothing helps, may sometimes reboot.

I have the low-end model of MM Late 2012 and ofc the same issue with blackouts.

We all should wait for sw update - new EFI.

I found discussion directly on intel page - look here http://communities.intel.com/thread/30096?start=0&tstart=0

Its global problem with Intel HD4000, so other notebooks have this problem.

Intel's explanation:

This issue is a BIOS issue specifically with the Memory Reference Code (MRC) version 1.4.0.0 or older. Please contact your system or motherboard manufacturer for a system BIOS update for your system or motherboard that includes MRC 1.5.0.0 or newer.

If you have a system with 2 or more memory modules and are comfortable with removing all but one of them so that your memory is in single channel mode, try and remove all but one of them and the issue will go away. This can be used as a workaround until you are able to update your system BIOS from your system or motherboard manufacturer that includes MRC 1.5.0.0 or newer.

So, we have to wait for sw fix first from Intel and then from Apple.

Nope, MRC 1.5 and 1.6 does NOT fix it, here's a quote from the same thread:

i tried to remove one of the 2 memories but the issue goes on anyway
