I can't connect to the ITunes Store on iPad

I can't seem to connect to the iTunes Store on my ipad2. I'm able to download upgrades but every time I try to run a search for a new app, I get an error message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I've tried changing the date, signing in and out and still no go. Please help.

iPad 2, iOS 6.0.1
