Dropping it from knee height on it's back has always worked for me.

Absolutely unbelievable! My parents had the green screen, I reset, restored, shut on and off. Found this thread and laughed at the hit. Told my dad what I was about to do and when I powered it on, it worked!!! Unreal!

I wouldn't have believed this either but it works.  This is the second time I have had this issue.  The first time the iPad2 was under warranty so I just got a new one.  This time I had nothing else to lose by trying this "fix".   There must be a connector whose pins face the front or back of the iPad.   In portrait mode, I hit the upper third middle of the iPad against my knee, going a little bit harder each time and it fixed it.  It was maybe three tries more or less but I think the key is to just do it starting off gently and working your way up.    It's a terrible design because it clearly happens frequently.

Add me to the list. Rap, like knocking on a door, on the upper right corner from the back side fixed the problem instantly.

Hey, my iPad recently turned a fuzzy green color and I lightly hit it on the back a couple of times, and it worked for a few seconds. Then I get on safari and it goes back to being fuzzy green.

Well I'll be damned! Yes, the three slaps worked for me too! I placed a thick magazine on my desk, I placed the ipad glass down on the magazine, I slapped the ipad with my palm once in the middle and not feeling like I had done enough I took both ands and gave a big smack across the entire back (after all the tech at the genius bar said it was obviously failed hardware and that it would cost me $250 for a replacement!) I then turned it over and to my amazement there was the apple logo as the ipad was already booting up and now works fine again!

    Thank you!

This "knocking thing" did it for me.

I knocked nine times and then it came back to normal.

    :o)

Takes me alot of time to bang and slap the back of the ipad, but after banging the lowest left part of the ipad on the floor with a rug,it goes back to its normal state!dang i REALLY felt relieved!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! This worked for me too! I banged it long ways in the very center of the back of the iPad and sure enough, it fixed it! The power of brute force, who knew????

I wonder if this would work for my purple block screen.  Have been pressing the top part of the iPad to get a normal screen, but it doesn't last long.

I did exactly what you did and it worked for me. I was so angry because I paid £200 to Apple 3 months ago for getting a replacement. This time I had to pay £25 for opening an incident and then other £200 for getting a new one. Totally crazy!!!!

First time, got a replacement because of the earphone socket. Now, I was not willing to pay Apple more money because of their fault when creating the device.

Thanks for this, a strong bang on the back and it came back to normal.
