How can I prevent a downloaded file to launch an application ?

Dear MacGurus :-)

When I download a .torrent file with Chrome or Safari, the uTorrent client is launched.

I would rather have the .torrent file ONLY downloaded and then launching the torrent client manually at a later time (if needed).

How can I achieve this ?
