Apr 19, 2014 8:53 AM in response to deeneeceeby jdpenafiel,I finally solved the issue by downloading the song, deleting it, and attempting playing from streaming. However, the odd thing is that the song was not formerly purchased in iTunes, but uploaded from a CD...

May 2, 2014 11:28 AM in response to deeneeceeby barnelius,I had the same problem. This is what I did.
1. Delete the album from your itunes library. It will ask you to either keep the files or send to Recycle Bin. Choose send to recycle bin.
2. Go to iTune Store. Find the album and download again.
3. You can also go to Purchased on left side menu and re-download.
That worked for me.

Nov 21, 2014 7:23 AM in response to deeneeceeby jjmf,Same problem.... Playlist based on Leonard Cohen's "Thousand Kisses Deep." Popup says, "this computer not authorized to play." and gives me a box to complete. I complete the box and click "authorize" and the reply box is "this computer is already authorized, including this computer you have...blah, blah."
So I click play on the song again...and it repeats the same process..... I'm caught in the same endless loop..... So like one of you suggested, I delete the song and go to iTunes store to download it again.... There is no buy or download icon to the right of the song.... it correctly knows I own the song, and has "play" where I would normally click ".99"
So I click "play" and the dialogue box comes up..... "this computer is not "blah, blah blah." And I'm caught in that endless loop... Yes, I only have one iTunes account, and this is it... and the song was bought on this song.... So frustrating...
iTunes 12, you buggy piece of.... blah blah blah!!!

Nov 21, 2014 7:36 AM in response to jjmfby jjmf,So I go back to "purchases through the iTunes store, and now there is no "cloud" icon over the song, though it's correctly listed with my purchases, and "clicking" in the area where the download cloud should be says "do you really want to hide this purchase."
iTunes 12 you.... worthless unreliable #***!!%^*!@$@!!!"
Another "fun feature" is creating a genius playlits and setting it up with say 25 songs.... the next time you open it on your computer the song now has 3 songs, or maybe 5 songs, and the original song on which the playlist was built is not present.... Click "select 50 songs" and they all reappear, but now the song it's based on is down the list, and no matter how many times you "sort" the playlist the original song won't appear at the top...
.... or how bout this one.... try to delete the playlist, and recreate the playlist from the same song. "iTunes sends back a message. "No playlist recommendations for this song, try updating genius." So I update genius and try again... no such luck...
Buggy piece of .........
(I wonder if anyone from development team reads these complaints)

Nov 8, 2015 6:26 AM in response to deeneeceeby NewtonPippin,I'm having the same problem.
Thank you to those who have offered workarounds while Apple gets their act together with this software.
Deleting the song and re-downloading worked for me (this time).

If I have music downloaded (or ripped) locally, why on earth does iTunes need to check to see if that 'computer' is authorized to play it?!
Is internet connectivity now a REQUIREMENT to use iTunes?
If I'm out hiking or running in an area with no coverage/connectivity, shouldn't I be able to listen to my music (that I paid for) regardless of whether iTunes can contact the mothership?

Jan 11, 2016 11:00 PM in response to deeneeceeby charlescor,I just had this problem. I downloaded an entire album, and they've all played without problem, except for one that got the same message as you.
All I did was delete the song, including the file, and re-downloaded, and all was fine.
F***ing iTunes!
