Nov 9, 2012 9:48 AM in response to bstaabby keg55,If the printer is on the LAN (WiFi) then it has an IP address and it's shared on the network regardless of OS. Make sure you have the printer drivers for the OS in case the OS asks for them.
For example, I have a Canon MP560 printer on WiFi. My household Windows laptops see this on the LAN and I'm able to Add the printer to those laptops. Since the laptops are Windows 7, the drivers are already there in the OS. On the Mac side, I installed the printer and scanner drivers then added it via System Preferences / Printer & Scanner. The printer is seen on the LAN and all I did was add it.

Nov 9, 2012 9:51 AM in response to keg55by keg55,I think i misunderstood.
You have the printer physically connected to the Windows machine and you've setup that Windows machine to share it, right? And the Windows machine and Mac are on the same network?

Nov 9, 2012 10:03 AM in response to bstaabby keg55,Check their IP addresses. If you have only 1 router, then their on the same network.
Edited: As long as you're sharing the printer on the Windows machine, the Mac should see the available shares. Check this Apple link.
