How to access two Macs on same router

I understand that to access a Mac which is connected via a router, I have to use port forwarding on the router to allow Apple Remote Desktop access though ports 3283, 5900 & 5988 to the first Mac, but how can I also connect to the other Mac? The only way I can see of doing that is to keep changing the port forwarding settings on the router to connect to one Mac or the other. This seems very inefficient; can it be set up to allow access to both Macs without reconfiguration each time?

You can't. Port forwarding only works for one internal address

Is there any way to achieve this without port forwarding then?

It just seems to be a pretty basic thing to want to be able to administer more than one Mac on the same router.

I think TeamViewer achieves this without any form of port forwarding (it's just needs to be run on each machine and a randomly selected password chosen on one machine and that password entered on the other.
