This thing of @me.com, @mac.com, and @icloud.com is confusing. Why are there 3 different ones? Can you use more than one? I have a me.com one but now I'm being offered an icloud, com one, and I don't know how to decide which one to use.

So you mean I can give one of them to some people and another to others, and all messages will end up in the same place? They're just different names for the same account? Do you know what the purpose is of that?
Yes, they are different names for the same account.
There's no specific purpose. The service name has changed over the years.
@mac.com addresses were provided when the service was called ".mac"
@me.com addresses were provided when the service was called "MobileMe"
@icloud.com addresses are now provided now the service is called "iCloud"
