See this Video Tutorial Or did you mean something else? I am not totally clear what you mean by tracks.

I mean animated travel maps but not the ones implemented in iMovie. It would be great to do this from any point of the globe and then import these animated tracks into iMovie.

You can do any point to any point on the globe within iMovie as long as you stick to the provided maps. However, if you want to provide your own maps, you need another tool.

Apple's Motion app will do this. There is a learning curve, but it is very powerful. You can save animations you create in Motion and use them in iMovie.

Thanks very much! I might buy this Motion App if I can use it for iMovie. Final Cut Pro is too complicated for just home use.

Motion is not integrated with iMovie. But you can export from Motion in Apple Intermediate Codec to a QuickTime file and then import this into iMovie.

If you had Final Cut Pro X, you could create a mapping generator that you could use in FCP just like selecting a Title or a transition. But you are right. It is a bit of a learning curve. But most iMovie users will recognize a lot of the interface. The complexity comes in with all the choices you have.

See this video tutorial on creating a road in Motion. If you get motion, budget some money for training. Mark Spencer in the video offers excellent training videos through Ripple Training.

Go to the Pixelcorps YouTube channel and you can see several episodes of MacBreak Studio that are on Motion topics.
