iTunes Error

I get an error every time I try to burn a CD. 😟 It's very annoying. I have repaired iTunes a couple times and that seems to help for a couple of CD's. Why is this happening?

Here is a screenshot of the error I get:

Hi. I'm experiencing the same problem as Corey - basically, iTunes keeps rejecting my CDR disc just towards the end of burning an Audio CD with a playlist of around 10, 14 or 16 standard size tracks with the message 'The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4450)’. I've tried everything I can think of, including: updating iTunes to the very latest version; re-installing iTunes several times; changing the brand of CDR disc used; updating Windows XP with the latest patches/downloads; and creating a new playlist with a mix of similar tracks (to avoid the 'can't burn the same play list more than seven times' rule). However, I'm not sure how I update my laptop's CD drive drivers (it's a DVD R/RW drive which, until recently, was burning the playlists fine until this problem suddenly started). The songs I'm trying to burn onto disc are a mixture of tracks purchased from iTunes and ripped from original CDs. I honestly don't know what the problem is - any ideas? I’ve already gone through 10 CDR discs, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

A few things have been kindly recommended to me, for example reducing the write/burn speed, and doing a CD diagnostic to check that the latest drivers are installed for your particular make of drive. Also, maybe try tapping ‘error 4220’ into Google, to see if anything comes up (quite a lot of useful information came up when I did this for the error message I’ve been getting). I’ve yet to try these things myself, but I will report back when I have. In the meantime, does anyone else have any ideas/suggestions? As I’ve mentioned, the playlists I’m attempting to burn are a mix of tracks bought from iTunes, and tracks ripped from original CDs - is it possible that one of the tracks comes from a heavily copyrighted CD (that allows you to rip, but not burn as an Audio CD mix)?

By the way, it seems a few people are having this problem - you've probably noticed that a similar thread is currently showing on the page 1 of this forum.

Thanks.

Hello Corey, Im still not exactly sure what is causing it, but after looking into it alittle bit, I did find afew updates on the HP site (USA) that might help in your case. Keep in mind this search I did was on the US hp.com site for the series of laptop you have not the exact model but seems theres a issue where sometimes the system reports the drive as a "Non system disc" to windows and applications. its a firmware update so you will have to go there to download and follow there instructions on installing it

If you have already installed this or it doesn't fix your issue you may want to try completly uninstalling iTunes AND quicktime, then installing them both back on your PC with any Norton products, Antivirus or security software turned off or disabled. alot of times this programs cause conflicts. ALso look in your event viewer to see if you can find some helpful info on whats causing the errors. goto control panel>Administrative Tools> Event viewer and look at your application logs and system logs. anything with a red X or yellow triangle look at

iTunes Error
