I have extreme base station and adding an airport express but I keep getting message an "unepected error has occurred try again" Why? How is this fixed?

Now "No base stations were found on the network. Choose a different option or go back." even through all my networks are working it cannot find base station. Airport has also crashed four times.
Suggest that you power off the AirPort Express for now and concentrate on getting the AirPort Extreme working correctly with AirPort Utility again.
Power off the AirPort Extreme, your Mac, and everything else on the network. After you power down the modem, unplug the power cord from the back of the modem or from the wall AC jack.
Wait a few minutes
Power up the modem first, by itself and let it run a few minutes
Power up the AirPort Extreme next and let it run a full minute
Keep powering up devices one at a time the same way until the network is back up
Check for proper operation

Thanks for the reply, I tried all of that several times. Strangely I moved it to another connection location and had the same problems again. Then my son brought up airport utility on his iMac and it all got connected which is closer to the Express. No idea why it worked on his mac and not mine.
I was seeing the same error trying to connect from my 5GHz channel. When I switched to my 2.4GHz the error went away and I was able to successfully configure the airport express.
