black screen on wake after going into full screen mode

If I run video in full screen mode (either Netflix or YouTube) once I put my Macbook to sleep when it wakes it has a black screen. So far the only way I can only get it back is a hard restart (hold the power button then restart it). This is a typical scenario: I watch a movie on Netflix in full screen mode. After finishing, I take it out of full screen mode and continue to use the computer, using Firefox, Mail, etc. Then at some point I stop and put it to sleep, usually by closing it. When I wake it, it will invariably have a black screen. If I watch movies without going into full screen mode then it wakes up just fine. This also happens if I use YouTube in full screen mode. It only started after I upgraded to OS 10.7.
