Do all the computers run ML??
There is your problem as if you had client running Snow it would probably still work.
Are you using wifi connection? Try running ethernet to at least one client.
The fix we give everybody is reboot the TC or reboot the whole network. Wet string networking of ML should be famous.
The iMac is connected directly to the TC with ethernet.
The reboot fix works but only for one day... tops.
Is this also true of the ethernet connected computer?
Is the TC the main router? Can you swap over to modem also being router and bridge the TC?
Test it with all names having no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
eg TC name.. change to TC
Wireless at 2.4ghz TC24ghz
Wireless at 5ghz TC5ghz
Hard disk name.. Data
Set fixed ip on the computers.. ie just try it with static ip address set on the device.
This is day three and Time Machine is working properly with all of my machines.
Simply changing the name of the Time Capsule from the default name to TC with AirPort utility did the trick.
You will have to reset each Mac to access the data file on the newly renamed Time Capsule. Time Machine will ask you if you want to back up to both or delete the old. I deleted the old and Time Machine was able to recognize the previous data without any problems. First backup with the new name will take a while but normal after that.
Hope this works for someone else.
Thank you.... LaPastenague!
Is the only name you changed the TC.. do you still have spaces in the wireless name or hard disk name??
Yes, the name of the selected disk is Data - TC, the names of the sparce images are the default ie. "Steve's MacBook Pro". The Time Capsule name is just TC nothing else, no spaces.
Are you suggesting that the sparce image names be changed?
I did have an error 1 on my MacBook Pro (Wireless Connection) this morning and restarting the Time Capsule resolved it. First in 4 days.
The sparse bundle name will follow you internal disk name and should not be changed.. otherwise it might ruin the backup.
Still needing to reboot is disappointing but hardly surprising.. there is more going on than mere names..
Next test is to reduce the dhcp lease to very short time.. try 20min.
If the TC is the main router and offering dhcp to clients then the setting is with the dhcp section. Sorry not sure in airport utility 6.1 where to find it.
You can also test by using a static address on the computer.. again as a test.
