Macbook Pro Retina Display Cracked, is it replaceable or Do I have to replace the Whole Laptop?

Assuming that it is just the screen that is broken, it should be replaceable, but it will cost a lot. (How much I don't know.) Of course, if you dropped it or something similar, there could be all manner of other damage that you can't see. I dropped my previous MacBook Pro (didn't crack the screen), and when it finally failed, the diagnosis was a damaged logic board, and the total repair cost would have been over $1,000, with no guarantees that other components might not also be damaged. I opted to simply replace the machine rather than pay that much and run the risk of other expensive repairs in the future.

For anyone else looking at this in 2013 the UK price for a 15'' retina screen from the apple store is £479.98 this is for the screen and also for it to be fitted. And no you dont have to replace the whole laptop!

Also worth noting that in 99% of cases this kind of damage, usually provoked by user action, is outside the coverage of the warranty, base or AppleCare.
