Contacts Confusion: All Contacts vs All iCloud vs All On My Mac

I am confused. I do not understand why I have three different numbers of contacts on my Mac:

All Contacts: 356

All iCLoud: 206

All on my Mac: 221

I am trying to clean up my contacts. I cleaned them up on the iphone and the 206 number is what I want. That matches the All iCloud number.

How do I get the contacts on my mac to match what is in icloud and only what is in icloud?

And...I have tried setting up syncing with Google Contacts both as an Exchange Account and a CardDav account. I don't get any error messages when I set them up, but I don't get anything syncing with Google either.

Ah the joys of an interconnected world! Not!

thanks

Turn off Contacts in the iCloud System Preferences pane. Delete all your contacts. Turn Contacts back on in iCloud.
