Once you receive the new iPhone it takes only a few minutes to get it setup, either via Wi-Fi or while connected to a computer running iTunes 10.7. An Internet connection is required. Once he phone is set up you can make and receive calls.

If your referring to your carrier, only a few minutes by calling your carrier and having them activate your phone. Normally done at the carriers store if you go there or if sent to you, then there will be instructions on how to activate it with your carrier normally included in the package from your carrier.
