Podcast Suddenly Not Updating in iTunes Store

It's quite normal for the Store to take a couple of days to update. If you've been getting quicker updates in the past you've been lucky, but your latest episodes were only posted yesterday. I'm afraid it's just a question of waiting: there isn't really anything you can do to speed it up.

Something is up with podcasts on iTunes. Not only has my podcast THE SHOW, not updated since November 7th. Every podcast I look up (Dave Ramsey, Dan Patrick...etc) have not updated since Nov 7th or 8th. Does anyone know if Apple is working on this?

The Store does have slow patches sometimes: but I'm afraid there is no way of knowing what is going on behind the scenes.

I've had exactly the same issues. I notice from my access.logs that apple have been regualry parsing the podcast xml file since uploading last month and then it stopped at [08/Nov/2012:09:09:02 -0800] and has not parsed since. The file is still valid and had not changed at that point. Looks lkie they've stopped parsing xml files??

Yes - there is something going on with the iTiunes store right now and yes - Apple Engineering is working on it.

Hopefully they will have the issues fixed shortly.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully this will get fixed soon. It felt like it was a little more than iTunes just being slow.

I am having the same problem. Podcast posted to WordPress site, using PowerPress Plugin.

I uploaded an episode last Friday (11/9). The new episode doesn't show up on the iTunes Store, only older episodes.

However, the new episode DOES show up in my podcast player apps. That is "Podcasts" for iOS and my Mac version of iTunes. In other words, subscribers will know there's a new episode. But people who haven't subscribed yet, don't see the new episode.

I use Feedburner to send my feed to iTunes. Thought that was the problem, but the feed looks the same as it usually does.

I'm new to podcasting, so I'm not yet too smart on what causes the feeds to get messed up.

The feed is OK if you are able to subscribe to it in iTunes or see it in other readers such as the Podcasts app. The Store caches feeds and visits them periodically (the frequency for any feed apparently depends on how often it gets updated, so if you have had a long gap between episodes it won't get checked as often); it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear but it is variable and sometimes the Store goes into a slow patch, which seems to be affecting a number of people at present. I'm afraid it's just a question of waiting.

Thanks Robert. On one hand, glad to know that I'm not the only one having this issue, but on the other hand, bummed to have no clue when it will be fixed... :/

Surprisingly my podcast updated the day after I posted to this forum. So it was about 4 days delay between releasing changes to the feed before it was picked up in the iTunes store summary.

@aarondwyer, what changes did you make to your feed?

I thought updates were supposed to be BETTER than before. I am a podcast user, and I live in China, blocked internet and all. I depend on my podcasts for news and perspective from home. Since I started itunes 11, they won't update automatically, and I can't update any of them, even manually. Double you- tee- eff? I have very simple needs, I don't require all the new wrinkles in how to display or organize my music. I just want to play it and hear it- How can I get out of this new black hole and back to the old one, which simply worked?

I'm not a child of the computer age. I have a very busy life, and no time to re-educate myself on the tools that are supposed to be serving MY needs, instead of the other way around. I just want something simple that works. This will surely drive me away from itunes once and for all.

I can't offer any suggestions: you could try asking in the iTunes forum.
