Spotlight (search box on the top right of the screen) seems to behave differently between Snow Leopart (SL) and Lion/Mountain Lion (ML). What I can find with Spotlight on SL cannot be found with Spotlight on ML although most of my documents are on cloud such as Dropbox and Evernote. In other words my two computers have almost the same documents on the cloud. Specifically I can find Evernote "notes" with SL Spotlight but I cannot with ML Spotlight. Could anybody give me tips regarding how to maintain Spotlight index on ML so you can search Evernote contents from Spotlight? Thanks for your help in advance.

There seems to be a bug in Mountain Lion to do with 3rd party Spotlight indexers like Evernote’s. If you type this command in the Terminal, you should see a list of installed Spotlight importers:

mdimport -L

On every Mountain Lion system I have tested, this generates an empty list. This explains why Evernote notes are not being indexed.

I have reported this to Evernote and Apple, but who knows if/when it will be fixed.
