Anyone having issues logging into ichat?

ichat won't recognize my login - have reset my password, have even set up a new account - it still won't login. Says invalid username or password. Anyone having the same trouble?

imac, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

HI,

If you have an iCloud issued @me.com name then it will not work in iChat 5 or earlier.

This is because in iChat 6 and Messages Apple have the apps logging in to me.com as well which then allows AIM to "See" the password.

The Password has to be 16 characters or less to work with the AIM servers (If you are using an @mac.com name or have iChat 6 or Messages).

Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried resetting the port to 443 and the login to api.oscar instead of login.oscar. Still have the same problem. I'm using a .mac username - again I even tried a .aim username. Still no luck. Won't recognize the pw. I have ichat 5.0.3. Snow Leopard on an iMac Intel Core Duo. This is frustrating. Sorry to keep bugging you. Thanks for your help. Someone else suggested going into the activity monitor and ending an image process (can't recall exact name). I did that too without result.

Hi,

There is an issues with the Messages app in Mountain Lion that involves File Transfers.

I am pretty sure that is not going to apply here.

If you created an AIM name then it should have a password that is no more than 16 characters (you can't create longer)

You can login in here with either name. (@mac.com names work here)

This may tell you your account has been "Suspended due to Unusual Behaviour" or a very similar statement.

If it applies to your AIM name then Re-setting the password should get the access back.

For @mac.com names it is a little more round about.

IF the @Mac.com name is blocked, then go here

Use the TOS General email link and ask them to reset the account. (Take the time to remind them that Apple IDs are Valid AIM names but changing the passwords at Apple cannot be "seen" by the AIM end and will need manual intervention).
