Migration from PC to Macbook Pro

I am migrating from PC to Macbook Pro with OS 10.8.2. I will be running on both Windows and OS platforms, should I migrate all the files first than split the drive or the other way around? Will the PC only files be transfered before I install the softwares to the Mac? Please help.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
