Q: MacBook Air not restarting from Remote DVD

I want to erase the SSD in my MacBook Air, before I replace it with a bigger one (already backed up, of course).

Since I do not have an external drive, I am trying to startup the computer from the OS X Snow Leopard install DVD inserted in a iMac.

I follow up all the steps needed to make the DVD drive available remotely (System Preferences, Remote Install Mac OS X, etc.) based on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2129.

When I restart the MacBook Air clicking the option key, I see my MBA drive as a startup alternative and below this icon, a dropdown menu to choose a network.  I choose my WiFi network and the computer identifies another startup alternative to the MBA hard drive, the remote DVD in the iMac.

I choose the remote DVD, click on the arrow . . . the computer starts working and starts up from the hard drive, rather than the remote DVD I selected.

I've done this multiple times with the same result.

Therefore, it seems the whole process goes as expected, save for the final part.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All the best.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
