How do I remove existing music on a slide show made with iMovie?
I want to replace music that I added earlier.

Select the music, so that a yellow border is around it. Then hit the Delete key. Or you can right/click and choose DELETE SELECTION.
The highlighted yellow area includes the pictures. Deleting the area causes a loss of the pictures as well. I just want to delete the music. I am unable to just highlight the music or audio portion?
If your music is in the background, just click on it once to select it.
If your music is in a track underneath the photos, you can also left-click to select it. Then hit the delete key.
If you drag to form a rectangle, it will select everything inside. That is not what you want.
The audio or music bar appears just below the pictures. When I click on the music or audio bar only a limited amount comes up with a rectangular yellow. If I hit the delete button only that portion of the audio disappears. Incidentally, I use a trackpad.
It sounds like you have the audio waveforms turned on. It might help to click the button to turn them off temporarily.
You might also try right-clicking (two finger click on a track pad) and choose Select Entire Clip.
I can't test it right now, so that is from memory. May be different wording.
Thanks - I have scheduled a on on one at the Apple store for next Tuesday. I'll let you know what transpires. Appreciate your counsel.
