New computer needs to take information from old ipod touch to share in library

Have an ipod touch, but a new computer. Want to share library from ipod with new computer. Itunes asks me to update ipod, but warns that I will lose information on ipod if not "sharing" library. Need to transfer purchases to new library before I can update
