I had similar problems when did upgrade to ios 6. Son changed the APN settings - but he is overseas now so not able to access his knowledge.
has anyone else encountered this?
Also won't let me use my iPhone as data source for connection to internet etc. Very frustrating.
I also couldn't do update through iTunes when connected to MacBook Pro.
