In order to find all my DOC or DOCX documents I tried with Fider - ALL FILES but see no such options to narrow down this search to only DOC or DOCX
I tried with .doc and .docx but with bad results
Once I have the list with my Word documents, I want to search for the word Music inside the files.
Anyone has a suggestion?
Also tried with Spotlight, no good either.
I use Mac OS Lion
In the Finder, choose Find (Command-F). In the search criteria, choose Kind - is - Other. In the Other text box type "Microsoft Word".
If you search by extension, such as Name - Ends with - "docx", you will miss files with extension hidden.
I don't think it will work with the *. Try just .doc or .docx.
You can also try opening a finder window, select the hard drive or user you want to search, then type .doc in the search window. Click the + sign to the right of the window and add search criteria. Add filename contains.
Jeffrey suggestion with Microsof Word finds also dotx , dot, dotm, Microsoft art galleries which have no endings; but I only want doc and docx: The suggestion by Glenn Leblanc displays all doc and docx (I hope they are all there is)
It should be. The default for showing is any (hidden or shown). You can add that criteria from the other in criteria menu (file extensions hidden) and choose any.
You could try doing a search for " *.doc " and " *.docx " files, omitting the quotation marks.

Does not find anything at all
I have already pointed out that I am not able to search elementary tasks with Spotlight or any Finder
Is it possible to exclude searching in certain folders f ex DropBox folder ?
That would be a little difficult because the search criteria only has contains and does not specify a "does not contain".
