My ipod can only work connected to the electricity, what can I do?

My Ipod doesen't work if it isn't connected to the electricity, it instantly shuts down when it is disconected.

I havn't used it in a long time, does anyone know how to fix this?

By electricity do you mean computer? Make sure that your device is fully charged before you continue using it.

Any type of electricity, like wires at home.

If you mean plugged in to any power source, then there might be some problem with the battery. Try to reset the ipod.
