iPhone stolen - no confirmation of remote wipe

I have had my iphone 4 stolen and have selected remote erase from Find my iphone. Will I ever receive confirmation if the thief restores the phone himself? I havent got any message so just hope the thief has erased the data himself. My main concern is that the data is erased. Appreciate any feedback as quite rattled by this - thanks
