I changed my email address on Gmail and now my computer will not recognize the new password when I modify my account?

I changed my email password on Gmail last night. I then went into settings on my MAC to reflect the changes but it will not recognize it. I double checked to ensure I had the right password and it is. I can log into my email from safari with no issues. I have varified that all account information is correct but its still not working. I have also lost notes and contacts.

See if this helps...

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

There should be 2 entries for gMail, one incoming, one outgoing.

Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password...

Resetting your keychain in Mac OS X...

If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

Thanks for the comments BDAqua. I actually tried that already. There are no saved passwords for Gmail in my keychain. Just in case I missed something I reset my Keychain and I still can't get mail, calender, or notes to synch. It still says that mail couldn't connect with my account and prompts me to enter my password which I know is correct. I can still log into my Google account through Safari?

Anyone more suggestions?

Mail passwords not holding...

If Terminal doesn't scare you, you might try this line in Terminal...

sudo mv /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase /var/db/CodeEquivalenceDatabase.old

Carefully type your admin password when asked & hit enter, as it won't be echoed, then restart the Mac.

The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...

This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server.

So since WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.

The receiving email ports are:

IMAP is port 143

IMAP-SSL is port 993

POP is port 110

POP-SSL is port 995

Outgoing ports are...

SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

Is it POP or IMAP?
