MacBook Pro Best Time to Buy?

I'm looking into getting a MacBook Pro, however, I am
wondering if Mac was planning on upgrading the system
again any time soon. Meaning to say the base MacBook
Pro model is the 1.83 GHz, in the next six months
will Mac potentially make the 2.0 GHz the base and
have even higher end models thereafter.
I want to know if I should get my MacBook Pro now, or
wait until the end of summer to see if they have
upgraded again. Is this the best time to buy?

Speculation on future releases is not taken well with Apple. If I were you I would read the Mac Boards and see what they say.

This is not really a question of speculation - it is a question about evolution.

You can be assured - especially with the intel transition, the processors will be become faster in a much shorter cycle than the IBM/ Motorola processors.

If you want {and need] the machine now - I would buy it. By September, there will almost certainly be a faster and "much" improved model - and by January '07 there will be an even better one.

You can't really "win" at this "game" - unless you are willing to buy it as soon asit's available, use it , and sell it - in a six month cycle - if you always want to have the latest and greatest.

This is a fast growing industry. By the time you buy a notebook, it becomes obselete. There will never be the "perfect" notebook where any further improvement in the foreseeable future is not expected. If you keep waiting for that one, you may never get one IMHO.

This is the first time Apple uses intel chips in notebooks and they notice some problems through users complaints. So it is possible that there may be improvements for the heat problem, for example. But maybe there will be another issue after this improvement, etc.

The perfect time is when you think it is. I got mine a month ago and I was aware of the issues. But I still got it, because it was the right time for me. Or I'm just a geek 🙂
