Ibooks stuck on installing update on ipad 3

Had the same problem for nearly a week and eventually fixed it by single tappping the app’s icon on the home screen which paused/stopped the download/installation (I then got a pop-up saying it couldn't be updated & to try again later). Now go back to the Apps store, switch to the “Updates” screen and tap “Update” to resume the download.

Worked like a charm! I had this issue for over 2 weeks, single tap changes the status to "waiting..." and after a while you get a popup as described above.
