By jail breaking your iPhone you void any warranty you may have, forfeit any support from this forum, leave your iPhone vulnerable to malware and risk bricking your iPhone should you attempt future software updates or restoring your iPhone.

A jailbroken iPhone is technically no longer an iPhone. The hardware remains the same, but jailbreaking alters an iPhone's firmware in such a fundamental manner that it can no longer be considered an Apple product. It's a FrankenPhone. An iPhreak. Not only is a jailbroken iPhone subject to unreliable operation and crashes, it is vulnerable to viruses and other malware and your personal information can no longer be considered secure.

Jailbroken iPhones eventually become pretty, but useless things. Every time, guaranteed.

It's yours to do with as you wish, but aside from driling a hole through it to make a nice necklace, there is really nothing else you can do about it.

in itunes, restore as a new device. all jailbreak mod will be wiped out.

if required, put the iphone in DFU mode - this is a supported apple method, no tricks here.

if you don't understand what this is, google it or search or apple's website.

you can then restore a backup that you may have created in itunes on your pc.

If it is an iPhone 3Gs it is more involved than just a Restore in DFU mode due to changes in the baseband but it can still be cleared. But we can't discuss it here, they need to go use Google.

true - but jailbreak doesn't necessarily mean unauthorized unlock right? so it may be moot...

With the 3Gs it generally does but neither can be discussed here.

its funny if the forums mods won't allow a link to "un"- jailbreaking the phone to help the OP - after all, its restoring back to 'apple' 'pristine' state - how can that be against the TOS or how can that make the device an less stable 🙂

Tread lightly. Apple kindly offers a well-controlled (too well-controlled for some, but such is life) forum for discussion of technical issues. It sets the rules, and all we can do is nicely ask for changes or move on.

Just like casinos can ask you to stop winning so much money at the blackjack table.
