To upgrade or not upgrade?

Question

I have a Macbook [circa 2008] whic has slowed considerably using Mountain Lion. Should I:

[i] Upgrade the ram from 2 to 4 GB?

[ii] Install MacMini to act as a server for this and other devices?

[iii] Buy a new macbook pro or imac and have the benefit of a new computer?

Any suggestions gratefully received? [Or any other solutions to the problem generally.]

4. downgrade back to 10.6.8.

He's running 10.6.6, so it'll be a litle difficult to downgrade to 10.6.8. 🙂

Stay there as there is no need to downgrade Mountain Lion. Such a suggestion won't make it run better or faster.
