Can't download as error says disk is full?

Everytime I try to download either purchased music from itunes or from a cd i receive this error message:
There was an error downloading your purchased music. The disk you are attempting to use is full. Removing files and emptying the recyle bin will free up additional space.

I have emptyied recyle bin but still receiving same message. What and where are the files I should be removing to free up additional space? I only have 11 songs on my ipod, lasting 45 minutes so lots more space on ipod for songs.

Compaq, Windows 2000

I have exactly the same problem. I have about 5 1/2 CDs on there and it just stopped adding. I got 'iTunes Music Library file cannot be saved. The disk you are attempting to use is full'. My hard drive has about 40 GB free and my 30GB iPod has nothing on it except those 5 CDs.

I assume you recently bought your iPod in the UK? I wonder if there's something wrong with the soft/hardware in a batch of them, I just bought mine in the UK too.

By the way, I've re-installed software, reset the iPod, re-booted my computer several times, and a number of other things. Anyone got any ideas?

Don't forget to clean out your temp folder, as this folder can hold a ton of files.

1. Clean out your temp folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
a.C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
b.C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp

Installers will leave files in these folders and after a while the size can add up to be a lot.

I'll check/clean out the temp folder as you are suggesting but I think this is one of those errors where the message does not accurately describe the true problem. Keep in mind that get info reports that there is indeed free space left on the drive, in my case 40+ GBs. Even if there were larges numbers of temp files, they should still be reflected in total storage usage.
