SMB access to a DropBox, sucess from windows, failed for osx

I've got a problem with a DropBox on a 10.4.6 server, as an individual share point (not in the public directory of an account).

The server is using Windows Services for authentification/access of users, connected to an ActiveDirectory (win2k).

So I created a folder, created a share point from it, with access mod 775. In that share point I created a folder named "DropBox" with posix permissions set to 773.

When I'm connecting to the shared point from Windows, I can put files in the DropBox and cannot view the content : cool, exactly what I want 😉

When I'm connecting to the shared point from OSX (10.4.6) via smb with the same user of the win2k domain, I can open the DropBox but cannot see anything inside : cool I cannot see, but strange I can open the folder ?!?
But no fun at all : I cannot put anything in the DropBox, I get a message like : impossible to complete the request, unsuficient access for some elements.

If I allow read by other, then it works. ??

So what did I missed in the DropBox configuration ? Is it possible to have it working for both windows and mac access ?

yeah, this is a work-around. It doesnt really fix the problem though. This is actually an Apple bug in the Finder/SMB client connection. We use SMB to auto mount a share point for our students (as they use PCs and Macs). When a Mac connects to the share and tries to write to the drop box it just refuses with the same error - insufficient permission/privs.

Apple please fix this bug
