I found the solution to my maps issue. THANKS APPLE for allowing Google Maps back on the system. Definitely works better now. And may I suggest to Apple, please don't put anything out before its time (like FCPX).

I know. I am just hoping that someone in the Apple world takes a look at these on occasion.

I am pointing the finger at Apple. I know the world is not black and white and there are a lot of grays. Google Apple and all of them for that matter have profit margins as their MO. And yes, Google could have stopped licensing the map app but did you ever stop to wonder why? It takes two to tango. If Apple had thought about how this would affect its customers, maybe they would have found ways to work with Google. I am a total Apple fan but it appears to me that the early days of Apple were focused on giving the customer what they wanted, not putting company profits over those of its users.

As far as a personal choice? I don't think so in some terms. Yes it was a personal choice to buy an iphone but one made by me during the early days of iphone 3. It was a phone that provided much service and Google contributed that with their apps. I upgraded when necessary and now own a 4S. When the new OS came out, the dang option to carry Google Maps was removed NOT MY CHOICE. I had to install a weak subsititute to get to a downgraded version of Google Maps via a browser.

Knowing how much I use the maps feature I was almost considering switching to Samsung or something that worked.

I am an Apple fan regarding its original goal of producing products that were efficient and basically just worked for its customers. I am not a fan of companies, Apple or otherwise, who decide to put money as their goal before customers. So I don't see any contradictions as far as that goes.

It takes two to tango refers to Apple, not Google or Samsung. It is Apple's right to choose what app they approve for their product. When the phone was first introduced (back in the 3 and 3s days) Apple allowed apps that benefitted their customers. Thus, the reason for choosing the iphone in the first place. But when you are stuck in a 2 year contract and the company making the product decides to change what apps are allowed and what apps are not allowed, you are trapped in a situtaion where you lose money if you change products. Therefore, your comment about personal responsibility is incorrect. One hopes you make personal choices based on what works best for you. But when Apple changes apps or provides a new iOS that you dont have to take but then renders current apps less efficient, you can't say that I had a stake in being responsible for that. That was a company decision, not my own.

Malignance stated, "The way I see it nobody at Apple forced anybody to update their iOS or buy an iPhone 5." Force comes in a variety of forms. True, no one forced anyone to buy anything. But when you upgrade a system it invariably affects the speed and efficiency of older programs and/ or apps that you have on your system. This is common, and a way for companies to continue making money. Force means the power to influence, affect, or control. In this case you cannot make your apps more efficient unless you upgrade to the new iOS. Oh and also I do not have an iphone5..not sure if I will get one.

About me switching? I agree Apple has some darn good stuff but I have switched before. I was an AVID editor, switched to FCP. When they changed their software, I left Apple and went back to AVID. I can do the same with my phone as soon as I see the company is not benefitting me the customer anymore. Apple should always be on the lookout to maintaning their customer base. Customers should be loyal to products that work. Now that is taking personal responsibility. In turn, companies should respect customer's demands
