My iMac internal mic is not working.
The internal mic does not work on our iMac. Is this more likely to be a hardware problem?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

Two things to look at; first Open System Report and see if your Mic is listed under the USB devices... if not try a
SMC RESET

- Shut down the computer.
- Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Attach the computers power cable.
- Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
- It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.
and see if it has reappeared. If it's still not there then it may be a component failure.
Had same problem after checking resources online Check your quicktime settings make sure its at internal mic.
