Command-Shift-Hyphen keyboard short cut doesn't work? - for decreasing/increasing clip height.

Usually when a keyboard shortcut combination does not work it is because it is assigned for something else system-wide. Try another combination, or figure out what else it is being used for, and undo that assignment (in System Preferences->Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts).
