Why can't I make any calls on facetime, the call drops after saying connecting for a few seconds. I'm using an iphone 5, 32 GB on IOS 6.0.1 over 3G network in Muscat, Oman. Just to be clear, I was able to make facetime call in Muscat about a week ago.

Did you try to use a Wi-Fi connection instead of 3G network?
Some carriers in the Middle East don't support FaceTime using cellular network:

Initially I was using Face Time over 3G network (a week ago), though post having this problem I have tried to use facetime over wifi also, but no luck, the call gets picked up and says connecting and then gets dropped after a few seconds....and yes, I was in Muscat all along
Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.

Are you sure that your provider supports FaceTime?
I've tried to do a soft reset by holding down the home & power button for 10 sec. and even set-up the phone as a new phone. Facetime worked only once, but beyond that the same problem started.
I don't think there is a problem with the provider as facetime was working perfectly about a week ago and then worked once yesterday after I did a hard restore.
Did you use the old backup to restore from after you had set it up as new device? If yes, try again, this time without using the backup, in case it contains corrupt files causing your problem.

I am also having the same issues in Oman. As you stsed it was working around a week ago but all of a sudden it will now not connect.
I am wondering if Oman has blocked it as they have with Skype. Can you use a VPN to get around this with Face time???
Tried that too, no luck. it seems that theres something wrong with apple servers only. Can someone advise on how to get this discussion to the apple techies. I don't think this is a hardware or network issue as I have already tried everything thing possible to get these right.
Please keep me posted as the only reason I got the iphone5 was for facetime to cut down my phone bills to the UK.

I just called up Omantel and confirmed that they have not blocked facetime. I also checked with a few other friends who had been using facetime if they were facing any problems, and guess what, they too havent been able to use facetime or imessage for almost a week now.
Therefore, logical conclusion is that the network is not blocking and the device are both okay, its apple blocking facetime and imessage in Oman.
Guys really need help here to get this through to official apple techies, please advise link/email id where I can submit this complaints.
