Problem updating ios 6.0.1

The OP isn't being vague. I am having the same problem on our CIO's replacement iPhone 5 from Verizon. When attempting to update from iOS 6 to iOS 6.0.1 I get this error

"Unable to Install Update

An error occurred installing iOS 6.0.1."

I have already closed all apps then did a soft reboot then a hard reboot but same error occurs. I just did another upgrade on a iPhone 5 from ATT from 6.0 to 6.0.1 and it went flawless today. Not sure if this is a apple or possibly a verizon issue.

Gonna try going through itunes to see if it makes a difference.

It could not possibly be a Verizon issue as they have nothing to do with the updates.

Updates do not fail without a more detailed error message.

Again, what exactly is occurring?

Are you attempting the update on the device or via iTunes connected to the computer?

If on the device, plug the darn thing into a computer and update it via iTunes.

Once again this is the error......

I read about this and learned from other threads I am supposed to click "learn more" and have the ability to download an iOS updater app but clicking learn more just gives me the iOS 6.0.1 fixes.

There is no "iOS Updater app".

iOS is either updated Over the Air on iOS 5 and higher devices or via iTunes on the computer.

Which are you attempting?

problem solved by doing the update via itunes. I was attempting this over the air (which can be assumed since I stated I will try it with itunes to see if it resolves the problem). And yes there is a iOS updater that was created for a bug from the latest patch.

To the OP, just use itunes to update if you have the same issue, it took about 10 minutes max.
