Had to Change Apple ID. Lost all Messages.

Had to change Apple ID because I no longer have access to the email address that I had been using for my Apple ID. Now i have lost all my Messages on my Mac. Is there anyway to get them back? If not, is there anyway to save the Messages that are on my iPad before I make the change on my iPad and lose the messages forever?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

HI,

iMessages are linked ti the ID that was used.

On the iPad they are Gone.

If you have a Mac then in Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 you can use the same Apple ID

Then in the Preferences > Messages you can choose to Save History on closing the conversation.

The Chats/Conversations are then Saved on the Mac (in ~/Library/Messages/Archive)
